Kathmandu, March 28: The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld its earlier decision that the last extension of the CA term by six months is final. With this, the apex court has created the obligation of promulgating the new constitution within May 27.

The SC revoked the application filed against the earlier application it had rejected which demanded the reconsideration on its verdict to promulgate constitution within May 27 or have the Constituent Assembly dissolved automatically. Co-Registrar at the SC, Nahakul Subedi had rejected the registration of the applications filed separately by Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and CA Chairman Subas Nembang on December 27, 2011. Again, another application was filed in the SC against that rejection.
The single bench of Justice Kamal Narayan Das on Wednesday issued an order that there was no reason and logic to revoke the rejection of the registration of application as Co-Registrar Subedi had fully abided by the constitution, and the principle the SC propounded. The SC, on November 25 had issued an order in the name of Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Nepal Government, and Office of the Council of Ministers to extend the CA term by six months for the last time and complete the constitution writing, dissolve the CA and hold a referendum.
