Kathmandu , Aug. 6: The CPN-UML Central Committee (CC) meeting on Saturday was postponed after sitting for a while. The meeting was scheduled to discuss the much debated reshuffling of the present Council of Ministers by inducting new members of the UCPN (Maoist) party by Party President and Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal.

Kathmandu , Aug. 6: Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairperson Jhala Nath Khanal has complained of slight fever today due to cold, confirmed his press advisor, Surya Thapa. The PM who returned home after presiding over the central committee meeting of the UML this noon complained of fever but has no any other serious problem, said Thapa. Thapa said he was unaware about the news that was disseminated saying that the UML CC meeting postponed due to Khanal's illness.

The commitments that Maoist made for implementation of the peace process should be materialized, NC President Koirala said, stressing that the Maoist must do this in a convincing manner.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, Vice-president of the Party, Bidya Bhandari said the meeting was postponed to August 9 due to illness of Prime Minister and Party President Khanal. Mr Khanal had chaired the meeting. At the meeting, Vice-president Bamdev Gautam urged to not waste time on the issue of expansion of the Cabinet at a time when the entire force has to be concentrated on completing the peace process.
Likewise, Party Secretary Shanker Pokharel said that President Khanal did not follow the decision taken by the party. Some 12 central members expressed their views at the meeting today. Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Standing Committee member KP Oli however did not present their views at the meeting. Prior to the CC meeting, the informal meeting of the Standing Committee was held.

Leader Koirala said this at an interaction the Reporters' Club organized at his residence, Maharajgunj, on Saturday.
"I myself propose the Maoist for prime ministerial post once the peace process is completed on time and constitution made," he added. He reiterated that the prime minister must resign in order to implement the five-point pact. However, he said the party will decide on whether to continue disrupting the parliamentary proceedings. The ball is in Maoist's court, he said, reiterating that the Maoist party must be responsible for the peace process.
former pla combatants announce protest
The former PLA combatants who were discharged from the cantonments by the UNMIN for being disqualified have announced the protest programmes demanding to replace the tag of disqualified imposed on them and management for their sustainable management.
They also formed a struggle committee under the coordination of Krishna Prasad Dangal by organizing a press conference in the Capital today. Coordinator Dangal said the State was becoming irresponsible towards their problems by not bringing any relief programme despite the passage of two years after their discharge from the cantonments.
Earlier, the former PLA combatants had submitted a six-point memorandum to Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal through his chief political advisor Prakash Jwala by setting a month ultimatum.

Call to make SAARC Information Centre more active
Chitwan, Aug 6: Experts have stressed for making the Kathmadu-based SAARC Information Center more active. Speaking at an interaction organised in Sauraha of Chitwan district on Friday evening, they said the center should work for the prosperity and development of the SAARC countries.
The center has been unable to resolve the problems of SAARC, said President of Federation of Nepali Journalists Shiva Gaunle. The center should try to improve relations between the SAARC countries, he said. Similarly, Press Council Nepal Chairman Narayan Prasad Sharma said the only information center of SAARC has failed to fulfill its objectives and called for achieving its goal.
SAARC Director and and General Director of the center, Laxmi Bilas Koirala, promised to make the center active giving equal roles to all. He also stressed on the need for forming a forum for public debate by collectionig information about SAARC countries.
FNJ President Gaunle, journalists Dev Prakash Tripathi, Suresh Acharya, Kundan Aryal and other took part in the programme. The ball is in Maoist's court, he said, reiterating that the Maoist party must be responsible for the peace process.
