Kathmandu, June 23: Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has said that every moment of the extended three months period of the Constituent Assembly should be utilized, as the time is crucial for the writing the future of the nation.

The Prime Minister, on the occasion, said that the top leaders of the three major political parties were holding series of serious dialogue to end the present deadlock in the constitution writing process and added there was no alternative to resolving the issue within few days.
Mr Khanal said that the priority of the five-point deal was peace and constitution writing process and made it clear that he was not willing to push the nation towards uncertainty by tendering resignation in the name of ‘facilitating the way’ sans agreement in peace and constitution writing process. "If the country's transition continues for a longer period then there will be counter revolution in the country not transformation", said the Prime Minister.
Mr Nepal said the Government was trying to bring to justice the people involved in the attack on journalist Khila Nath Dhakal and made it clear that the criminals cannot save themselves under the cover of any political party. The Prime Minister also said that full press freedom would be ensured in the new Constitution.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Khanal feted journalist Vijaya Chalise with the 'Hridayachandra Singh Journalism Prize'. Similarly, journalist Kishor Shrestha was honored with 'Agnisikha Memorial Journalism Prize'. The prizes carry a purse of Rs. 11,111 each. Likewise, Nisha BK was honoured with with 'Birendra Shah Creative Youth Journalism Prize'. The prize carries a purse of Rs. 5,000.
Vice-president of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Yashoda Timsina said it was unfortunate that the new FNJ leadership had to take to the streets soon after assuming its office, and drew the attention of the Government towards the professional and physical security of the journalists.
President of Revolutionary Journalists’ Association, Maheswor Dahal lauded the efforts of Press Chautari to honour the journalists, who have come from the background of a ‘movement’.
President of Nepal Press Union, Kiran Pokharel said it was a matter of shame that journalists in democratic Nepal were unsafe. Chairperson of Press Chautari, Gagan Bista presided.
SEBON provides stockbrokers license
Kathmandu, June 23: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has awarded stockbroker license to various five companies as per the Stockbrokers Regulation, 2064.
According to SEBON, the companies to get the license are Sunny Securities, South Asian Bulls, Lynch Stock Market, Imperial Securities Company and Creative Securities Company. With this, the number of companies holding stockbrokers' license has reached 14.
The SEBON has said other companies applying for the stockbrokers’ license will receive the license after they fulfill the required criteria including setting up of offices equipped with necessary human resource and other infrastructure.

Kathmandu, June 23: The main opposition Nepali Congress has stressed on the need of concluding the peace process sooner than later. At an informal meeting of the central committee members of the party held today at the party headquarters in Sanepa, NC leaders discussed the implementation of the five-point deal, the upcoming budget and contemporary politics. The next meeting is scheduled for 25 June. Party’s Officiating President Ram Chandra Poudel, after the meeting, said that discussions were held on the overall political situation of the hour. Leader Poudel hailed the discussion on pre-budget at the Legislature-Parliament and added that other issues would be discussed later.
Central committee member Dip Kumar Upadhyay said the NC was doubtful of the budget though the Finance Minister has vowed not to bring populist and distribution-oriented budget.
sc orders maoist chand to be present within 15 days
Kathmandu, June 23: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued an order in the name of the UCPN (Maoist) leader Netra Bikram Chand to be present before the SC within 15 days with a response in writing on the charge of defaming the Court.
Justice Baidhya Nath Upadhyay issued such directive saying why Chand made statements against the Court. In an interview to an FM radio station, leader Chand had called the justices and judges stooges and corrupt, who were campaigning against the Maoist party and the peace process. Suman Adhikari of Lamjung and Phanindra Luintel of Okhaldhunga had on Wednesday filed a case of defamation of the Court against Chand.
sc denies to register writ of suspended lawmakers
Kathmandu, June 23: The Supreme Court on Thursday denied to register a writ petition to be filed by the four suspended lawmakers.
Co-registrar of the SC Nakul Subedi denied to register the writ saying that the SC cannot interfere in the functioning of the Constituent Assembly, as the CA and the Legislature-Parliament itself is a sovereign body. Lawmakers Bishwendra Paswan, Sardul Miyan Haque, Rukmini Chaudhary and Buddha Ratna Manandhar were suspended for a week on June 19 for obstructing the parliamentary business.
The lawmakers were about the file the writ demanding annulment of the decision made to suspend them.
maoist cc meet to begin tomorrow
Kathmandu, June 23: The UCPN (Maoist) has decided to discuss the intra-party rift, party's organizational strengthening and other issues in the Central Committee (CC) meeting beginning Friday.
Party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma informed RSS that the meeting will dwell on the issues of army integration, peace process and constitution writing, consensus and coordination among the parties among others.
Prior to the CC meeting, the standing committee meeting of the party will be held tomorrow morning, which will finalize the agenda for the CC meeting.
The CC meeting of the Maoist party, which was called for Wednesday, had to be postponed due to intra-party rift.
NO involvement of Political leadership in SUDAN Scam: Dr Mahat
Kathmandu, Junes 23: Leader of the Nepali Congress, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has claimed that the political leadership had no involvement in the Sudan scam.
At a programmed organized to launch “Netritwa ko Sawal’ a fortnightly magazine, leader Dr Mahat said the case filed by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had also made it clear that there was no involvement of the political leaders' in the Sudan scam.
As the party leader and then Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula was not involved in the case, it was not good to falsely implicate him without proof, he added. He accused the government of not giving serious attention to the incident of the brutal attack on Biratnagar-based journalist Khilanath Dhakal.
Moreover, he said the peace and constitution writing processes were delayed all due to UCPN-Maoist's craving for weapons and fighters. Peace process cannot be completed with the show of arms and fighters, he added. On the occasion, Editor of the fortnightly, Keshav Raj Pandey said the magazine would give priority to independent journalism.
Include 16 points in new statute: Woman organizations
Kathmandu, June 23: Participants of a programme stressed for the need of including16 points regarding women rights in the new constitution.
The points includes same descendent right for male and female, equal rights on patriarchal property, in case of married woman equal rights on the immovable property. Similarly, the new constitution should have the provision to separate up to 15 percent budget for the woman's from the backward class from local, regional, and state level, free and compulsory education and others.
The programme that was supported by Constitutional Dialogue Center and organised by different woman organisations in the Capital today includes free higher education, management of skill development training, free health service and medicine, take safe motherhood and reproductive health services in the villages.
Likewise, woman's ownership and control on resources, guarantee woman's in available source, guarantee 50 percent woman participation in all sectors recognizing their existence including others. The participants said the state should manage financial and social security to single and handicapped woman, financial evaluation of woman's domestic works and provision of pension to woman from the state.
On the occasion, it was informed that the women had submitted the report prepared by 11 Thematic Committees in the Constituent Assembly to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Nembang and senior leaders of all political parties. The CA Vice-chairperson Pruna Kumari Subedi, Unified CPN (Maoist) leader Barsha Man Pun, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak, CPN (UML) leader Pradip Gyawali including others expressed their commitment to include in the new constitution. The points were prepared jointly by different Woman's Network active for the woman's rights across the country.
