“With a cute lady in a corner at thamel”

Raman Poudel
Kathmandu; It’s too late evening at thamel. We were separate in a corner of a hotel with candle light. The sound of dancing and singing from the nearest hotel was disturbing us. Exactly, so many youngsters were dancing, drinking and making crowed there. She was shy and tried to sharing something about her journey to the new place.
Brooke, 21, from austrelia volunteering at a hospital in kathmandu now. She shared that, she would like to go nagarkot just after the days by walking. She asked “how long time it takes?” “ohh…its to hard to say easily” I thought, and told her confidently 3 hours by walking. But thought again and corrected it, “hmm..oh no I think it takes 5 hours around from ktm.”
Anyways, she assured. I was trying to know her past adventurous journey and trip to himalayan areas. Because she had already been to Annapurna base camp, jomshom. Amd some other himalayan areas. Which made me inspired to go. She shared her journey to pokhara, and johmshom by bus. Told, “it was really riski too, raising hand and made guesture.” Hahaha, I laughed. Anyways, I added seriously, actually you are so lucky broke, I haven’t been there yet even a citizen of nepal. But, you reached there from so long.”

It was very rush hour for her. An I asked, “ how could you be successed now to meet me broke ?” she laughed and told, “ because it is weekened” added, “ actually, I would like be busy.”

“oh, Yeh, that’s good.” I told, “you wanna be busy by woring or by trekking?” she laughed and told, “ by working.”
“What a responsible lady.” I added “ yeah, I also like to be busy. But, not by working at office. Rather, I would like to be busy by trekking, hiking and visiting new places.”
She offered for 2 cup of tea to the waiter. I was seating silently on soffa near her. I tried to be close with she and told, “ I see you differently now broke, really you seem very intellectual and gentle lady here. But you were not so where we met for first time at bashantapur.” Hahah. She told, “no no im not so intelectual. But, I trying to be so.” Hahah she supported me to laugh now.
“No not only to be, you already intellectual, gentle and really you seem beautiful and cute now. But, maintain it.”  “What’s your aim brooke ?”
“actually, I want to be a dotor. now Im volunteering here, you know, as a thearapist.but I love to visit new places, nepal.”
“So, how you felling here in nepal, how you got the nepalese people here ?”  I asked.
She continously spoke as if she was really a chatterbox, started to speak, “ actually, I feel very easy and confortable here. You know I work at a hospital, there are so many kinds of people. They learning me the nepalese language. By the way, I learnt some nepalese words like, MAATHI- TALA, for up and down, HAAT for hand, AUNLAA for fingers and some other words. And exactly, nepalese people are very helpfu, and heartful, innoscent too. They are sencear to thair work. I really like this. By the way, I have been Thailand too. But, I didn’t got there like nepalese people. Actually, I got the Bankok really a bad city. My greand father was stollen by a thaai girl there. But, I see here very good people and helpful. And the culture is also very good here, I see. I don’t beleave on relegion but, the culture is very good here. Neturally, nepal is a heaven. I say this country a heaven of neture.”

Yeah, you write. Excatly so. Thanks, brooke. She saw towards the hanging clock. Ohh, it’s too late, 9:30. It’s time to go.
Yeah, I requested her to take a photo. She easily told, ok. But, she felt shy. I wouldn’t say something more about her shy. Anyways, I pressed the switch of camera click, click and click, three times.
Waiter came with a bill of tea, 100 rupees. she tried to pay but, I stopped her. “Thank you ” she told only this word. “Ok . it’s time to go.”  Yeah. We apparted from there.

An unmarried lady from austrelia, just 21 year . having to be a doctor. Actually, she is free and independent in her way. I suppressed innerly and told good night brooke.
